Learning Beyond Trends and Theory
Welcome, and thank you for being here.
I started this blog as a way to pause and reflect on what I have learned over time in the development sector. I work in international development, focusing on program design, policy, and learning. My experience comes from working with different communities and institutions over many years.
So much of our work moves quickly and there is little space to step back and think about what worked, what did not, and why. This blog is my way of creating that space and sharing it with others who are on a similar path.
Here, I write about real experiences. Some are small lessons that stayed with me. Others come from situations that required decisions, teamwork, and honest conversations. Along the way, I also unpack development concepts and theories as they appear in practice, and reflect on how they are often understood or applied in real settings. At times, I question popular practices and trends, especially when they seem disconnected from context or from what people actually need.
My goal is to open a conversation. If something here helps you think about your work in a new way, or connect theory with practice more clearly, then this space has done its job.
Many of these reflections also connect to what I share on LinkedIn, where I value the exchange with other professionals. This blog gives me the space to go deeper and keep a record of these thoughts over time. Posts will be shared in Arabic, English, or sometimes both, to reach a wider audience.
Before you go, I am curious. What is one lesson from your own work that stayed with you longer than expected?
If this space speaks to you, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments or connect with me on LinkedIn. I would like this to grow into a shared space for learning and exchange.
